Face-to-face training is back!! Join us for an in-depth, integrated approach to trauma-informed care in nutrition. This entry-level workshop will focus on trauma presentations in community health, mental health, eating disorders and with neurodiverse individuals.

This seminar is design and presented by dietitian Jacinta Sherlockm face to face in MELBOURNE.

Who should attend?

Practicing dietitions and nutritionists working in clinical settings, GP clinics, community health, private practice, NDIS, public mental health, eating disorder specialists programs.

What will be covered in this 2 day seminar we will:

  • Define trauma 
  • Describe why trauma-informed care is important 
  • Understand the neurobiology of trauma, including Polyvagal theory and Attachment theory
  • Identify common areas trauma can present during a nutrition consultation
  • Describe and apply the principles of trauma-informed care 
  • Identify trauma-informed intervention and treatment principles 
  • Trauma-informed approaches for neurodiverse individuals and preventing retraumatisation 
  • Understand how to facilitate a nutrition consultation that provides safety and stability
  • Understand how to work with someone's window of tolerance. 
  • Understand and apply principles of sensory modulation 
  • Apply basic psychoeducation to help clients understand their trauma as applied to food, eating, and their body. 
  • Identify when and where ‘mindfulness and mindful/intuitive eating’ is contraindicated in clinical work. 
  • Develop insight, awareness, and strategies to manage your own nervous system response and prevent retraumatision

Our venue is a central Melbourne location, and lunch is provided each day. Additional food and drinks are availale for purchase.

Seminar times are 9am - 4:30pm each day with breaks for networking.
