Happy International No Diet Day
A day dedicated to rejection of diet culture and weight stigma.
We want to recognise that many people we work with are at different stages of their journey towards self-acceptance and shifting the cultural narrative and societal conditioning of body image ideals.
In reality it’s a small percentage of people who are liberated from the rhetoric of diet culture.
In my experience telling people they have to accept their bodies as they are doesn’t work. Diet culture is embedded in the psychology and physiology of many people.
What we are more interested in is the story that has you battling with your body. What are the experiences of shame, rage, loneliness, rejection that keep you stuck in this battle with yourself?
I’ve learnt that when we can hold spaces for these stories, for these parts of us to be seen and validated, the emotional impact of these experiences are released, and how we relate to ourselves can change.
So, whether your still caught in the cycle of restriction and dieting, or experiencing guilt and shame, we see you and if you’d like support in shifting your relationship with your body and food, we are here to help.
With kindness and compassion,
