At Dietetics Done Differently, we support people living with diabetes in a way that prioritises
curiosity, compassion, context, and care – not judgment or shame.
Many of our clients come to us with newly diagnosed diabetes, feeling overwhelmed not only by the diagnosis itself but by the way it’s been delivered. Too often, they’ve already been told that their body size is the problem – before anyone has taken the time to understand their full story.
They've been given unsolicited weight loss advice, told to just eat better and lose weight, and made to feel like their health is solely a reflection of their weight.
We know that wellbeing is complex. Diabetes management is not just about numbers or
weight—it’s about supporting the whole person. This involves exploring various aspects,
including food, movement, stress, sleep, medication needs, and social support, and how these factors interact with blood sugar regulation. It means creating space for your questions and emotions and working at a pace that feels right for you.
Our approach is:
Weight-inclusive: we don’t make assumptions about your health based on your body
size. We won’t ask you to pursue weight loss or restrict food in ways that feel
unsustainable or harmful. Instead, we help you develop habits that are supportive,
enjoyable, and aligned with your values.
Evidence-based: We utilize up-to-date, evidence-informed nutrition care that supports
individuals of all sizes living with diabetes. We focus on what helps you feel your best
and manage your blood glucose in a way that aligns with your life.
Shame-free: we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect in
healthcare. If you’ve ever left a medical appointment feeling judged or dismissed, we
want you to know—there is nothing wrong with you.
If you're newly diagnosed and feeling confused or discouraged, we’re here to help you make
sense of it all and would love to meet you.
